8 Tools For Getting The Most From Troy Patton’s Nov. 7-8  Mastermind Event in Indianapolis, IN

If you are coming to Indianapolis next week for Troy Patton’s Coaching Program Mastermind 2-day event here are 8 tricks, tips and strategies for getting the most out of the event AND implementing what you learn when you get back home.


Record Important Parts - Because it’s 8 hours long you know taking DETAILED notes ALL the time is going to be tough.  I suggest you bring a digital recorder and use it for the discussions (or all) of the event that you want to learn the most of.  I use an Olympus DS-40 and it works great in big rooms.  You can replay audio on the recorder itself or the software is simple to use for downloading later to a PC.


Pick 3 Learning Goals - You’re in Indy to learn from Troy and the rest of the group so you can go back, implement something new or enhance what you’re currently doing to GROW your practice right?  So right now you want to have a GOAL of LEARNING 3 NEW THINGS that will help you do that.  If you already know what they are, great, write them down on a 3 Goal Sheet that you’ll bring with you so you make sure you don’t forget them in between everything you’re doing.  If you don’t have 3 then read on…


Goal #1: Learn About a New TOOL - Whether it’s a software tool, a marketing tool, an advertising tool, a tax return, website, organizational, management or operations Tool, there is something that someone in this group has found or bought that helps them do something in their practice Better, Faster, Cheaper that you don’t know about but they’d be willing to tell you if you ask.  Find out by asking other people, “Hey is there some TOOL you use in your practice that helps you do things better, faster or cheaper that you could tell me about?”.


Goal #2: Learn About a New STRATEGY - Changing your approach (aka Strategy) to people or tasks can often give you 20%, 50% or double the results.  You just have to test different strategies to see what delivers better results than what you’re getting today.  Here are some strategies to ask people about at the session:



Goal #3: Learn About a New SYSTEM - Systems are tools, strategies and people all integrated or strung together to get something done.  Find what other accountants are using for their SYSTEMS to grow their practice.  Examples are:


Advertising Systems, Sales Systems, Client Lead Generation Systems, Follow Up Systems, Email Systems, CRM Systems, Payroll Systems, Tax & Accounting Systems, Scheduling Systems, Organization Systems, Computer Systems, Telephone Systems, Document Management Systems, Workflow Management Systems, you get the idea.  


Just PICK ONE and the ASK EVERYONE about what they use, pro’s and con’s so you learn as much as you can while you’re in Indy.


Bring 30 Business Cards - Why?  You want to TRADE THEM for the business cards of all the other attendees so you can connect with them after the session.  By connect I mean 2 things.  One you can call or email them after Indy and pick their brain about one of the above topics as well as offer them your advice and expertise if they are interested in it.  Two you want to get on Linkedin and CONNECT with them so you can a) build your network and b) see what they are doing ON Linkedin in terms of advertising and generating leads (more on this in another article).


Join the Coach Patton Linkedin Group - If you’re not already a part of this group (click here) you can and should be as I post updates and articles unique to Troy’s Coaching Program Members.  Plus it is an efficient way to connect with this group after the Indy Mastermind session, and trade ideas, success & horror stories with your peers who are trying to grow their practices just like you.


Mastermind Effect - One of my tag lines is, “good marketers borrow & great marketers steal”.   It’s another way of saying there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel if you can find other people already doing what you want to accomplish.  Just ask them, learn from their experiences (good & bad) and implement what they do.  There is no better environment or opportunity to do this than at Troy’s event.  Everyone there is trying to do the SAME THING, grow their practices and best of all no one is your competition!  What better place to find ideas, suggestions, Tools, Strategies & Systems to go back and use in your practice to do the same and grow YOUR practice!
